Introducing The Globe’s new Coastal Platter, a celebration of our area and local suppliers, the wealth of fresh produce across the Norfolk Coast and our chefs’ passion for doing it all justice. We consider ourselves to be very lucky to have such incredible provenance on the doorstep and our chefs take great delight in producing locally sourced meals that embrace the region's nautical heritage.
SEA TO PLATE
On a sunny summer's morning, the Ca Seafoods team took our Head Chef Lewis and Front of House Supervisor Kayla to sea, to show them a morning in the life of a Norfolk fisherman. The experts demonstrated how they catch, inspect and prep the Sheringham lobster, ensuring sustainability and freshness. Take a look at their trip by watching the short video below.
AS FRESH AS CAN BE
The Sheringham lobsters are caught bright and early in the morning, before arriving at The Globe by lunchtime the same day, into the kitchen for the chefs to work their magic and onto our guests' plates to enjoy.
To celebrate the launch of the new sharing platter, on a balmy July evening The Globe welcomed local press and bloggers for an intimate event on their terrace. The French Riviera met the Norfolk Coast with blue and white linen, potted herbs, fresh seafood displays and long supper club style tables.
Guests enjoyed canapes – bite-size Thai smoked haddock fish cakes with Sriracha aioli - and flowing Saffron Grange sparkling wine, before tucking in to the main event.
Making up our coastal platter, salmon sourced from Staithe Smokehouse, an award-winning traditional artisan smokehouse, caught in Scotland and smoked in Brancaster, 10 miles from The Globe. Sheringham dressed lobsters are caught at sea 17 miles away from the pub. The cockles are from Essex, pickled in-house with dill, black peppercorns, star anise, mustard seeds, sugar, bay leaves and Suffolk Aspall Cyder Vinegar. Cromer crabs are caught off the shallow chalk reef and nutrient-rich waters of Cromer.
DID YOU KNOW?
Brancaster oysters are classified among the best in Europe and are set at grade A. Meaning the waters of the Norfolk coastline are so pure that the oysters can be sold direct from the sea, without any need to do anything to them.
