The Northgate in Bury St Edmunds Attracts Star Head Chef
Locals and visitors to Bury St Edmunds can expect to soon enjoy the finest cuisine across East Anglia with the announcement that highly acclaimed chef, Dan Grigg, is to become Head Chef at The Northgate. Due to open this summer, The Northgate aims to set a new benchmark for hospitality in the region, providing diners and guests with exceptional food, drinks and service.
Grigg joins The Northgate having achieved Head Chef status at the age of 25 and been personally awarded Three Rosettes for delivering excellence in food.
He is renowned for injecting a sense of theatre and occasion into his food, creating inspired dishes which ignite all the senses. He has earned rave reviews throughout his career to date, often credited by the AA at hotels renowned for their culinary experience.
These include the Three Rosette Gilpin Hotel & Lake House in the Lake District and the Michelin starred Samling Hotel in Cumbria.
Grigg’s passion for food is infectious and the diners at The Northgate’s ‘Chef’s Table’ will get to experience it first-hand. Joining them at their table, he will talk through the dishes that they are tasting, the cooking process and his inspiration.
As well as dinner, Grigg and his team will serve breakfast (including to non-residents), lunch and afternoon tea, using their expertise to showcase Suffolk’s enviable mix of food and drink producers.
When it opens its doors, The Northgate will boast a bar, dining area, private dining, meeting room facilities, an outside terrace and nine bedroom accommodation.
With its own parking facilities, The Northgate will be the choice hub from which to explore Bury St Edmunds, the neighbouring areas and wider region.
Dan Grigg, Head Chef at The Northgate, said: “I’m hugely excited about taking the helm in The Northgate’s kitchen. Our goal is simple - we want to source the best, seasonal produce and use creative flair to inject some fun into the dining experience through sensational flavours.
