The Chestnut Group extends their Newmarket hospitality portfolio

March 22, 2017

Locals and visitors to Newmarket have been eagerly anticipating the opening of The Blackbirds Inn (formerly The Three Blackbirds) in Woodditton since it was announced The Chestnut Group purchased the building in August 2016.

The much-loved pub is nearing completion following a sensitive refurbishment and is due to open its doors to guests on Friday 24th March, 2017.

With the growth of racing industry and the opening of Palace House Museum last year, the multi award-winning Chestnut Group are delighted to be expanding their business further around Newmarket.

Philip Turner, Founder of The Chestnut Group, said ‘the opportunity for us to acquire The Blackbirds Inn was incredibly exciting. The Packhorse Inn, has been an overwhelming success and incredibly well supported by the local community. We look forward to extending this with The Blackbirds Inn, but with an altogether more relaxed hospitality experience.’

With an emphasis on relaxed, casual dining, the menu will be based around pub classics; a large range of chargrilled specialities and homemade pizzas from the new stonebaked pizza oven. The menu also includes a children’s section and even a few treats for The Group’s four-legged friends.

Work on the nine bedrooms is expected to start shortly with the opening scheduled for spring 2018.
