May marks National Walking Month, so there’s no better excuse to get out and explore. With the hope of sunnier days, drier paths and a bit of warmth in the air, it’s a great time to head out across the coast or countryside. These are walks we keep coming back to - all starting and ending at a pub, so you’ve got something to look forward to at the finish.

Nayland Circular
Pub: The Anchor Inn, Nayland
This circular walk follows a gentle route through open countryside and along the River Stour (with a few spots for your four-legged friend to go for a swim). Starting from the village, the path loops out across fields and quiet tracks before winding back through farmland and pockets of woodland. It’s a well-balanced route with a mix of wide views and more sheltered stretches.

The White Horse Wander
Pub: The White Horse, Blakeney
Take in the vast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty full of wide open spaces across Blakeney National Nature Reserve. This walking route is a gentle route that keeps to clear paths and passes close to Cley-next-the-Sea, another quaint coastal town known for its iconic windmill.

Wellington Boot Wander
Pub: The Carpenters Arms, Great Wilbraham
Tucked away in Cambridgeshire, The Wilbrahams offer miles of footpaths through open fields, ancient woodland, and around the village common. It’s perfect for a short ramble or for giving your dog a longer off-lead adventure on our Wellington Boot Wander. Fancy a change of pace? Cambridge is just a quick trip away for a city stroll.

Constable 250
Pub: The Red Lion, East Bergholt
One of our newest walking routes; follow quiet lanes and riverside footpaths, and pass Flatford Mill and Willy Lott’s House - the very spots that inspired John Constable’s famous paintings. The route then winds along the River Stour, before returning to your starting point at the pub for a well-earned Sunday lunch. This route is ideally taken this summer as we celebrate 250th anniversary of Constable.

Ringstead Route
Pub: The Gin Trap Inn, Ringstead
The Ringstead Route is a scenic 11km circular walk that takes you through a variety of Norfolk’s finest landscapes. As you leave the village, you’ll join the Peddars Way, an ancient Roman road offering sweeping countryside views. Along the way, you'll walk beside hedgerows, farmland, and pockets of woodland, with the chance to spot a variety of wildlife.

Inn to Inn
From: The Westleton Crown to The Ship, Dunwich
This 5-mile adventure links two of our coastal pubs. Set off from either end and wander across wild heathland and along the Suffolk coast. The route takes in RSPB Minsmere and the ruins of Greyfriars priory. Plus, you get to stop off halfway for a refreshment. Pub walks at their finest!

We've created a collection of all our coastal and country walking maps on our website, with downloadable copies of the maps too, so explore routes near your favourite pub here.
