There’s nothing quite like crunching over leaves, breathing in cool air, and returning to the warmth of a cosy pub for a wholesome Sunday roast. We’ve gathered some of our favourite autumn walks from our front doors that take in sea views, historic towns, and countryside paths - all paired with roaring fires, local ales, and roast dinners worth walking for.
Peddars Way Walk
The Lifeboat Inn and The Chequers Inn, Thornham
With sea views and a refreshing autumn breeze, this walk offers both history and panoramic views. Choose the shorter 2.5-mile route or stretch your legs with the 7.5-mile option. Both pass Thornham’s iconic old harbour building and out along the Norfolk Coast Path. Look out for big skies, crashing waves, and plenty of wildlife before your roast awaits.

Wandering Through Wells Walking Map
The Globe Inn, Wells-next-the-Sea
Staithe Street comes alive this season as the shopfronts create seasonal displays and start to think about the 'C' word - Chirstmas. Whether you’re hunting for gifts or a keepsake from your stay, our Wandering Through Wells walking map highlights the best independent shops for browsing on a cool autumn afternoon.

Weeping Willow Wander
The Weeping Willow, Barrow
This gentle 1.5-mile round route takes you along village roads and fields framed with the colour of the season, ideal for stretching your legs before tucking into your Sunday lunch. Staying in one of the pub’s lodges? It’s a perfect morning walk with your four-legged companion. For a little extra adventure, take a short detour to see the remains of Denham Castle.

Secret Saffron Walden Walking Map
The Eight Bells, Saffron Walden
Saffron Walden is especially magical in autumn, with tree-lined Bridge Street and the market square bustling with local life. Wander through its independent shops, weekly market, open gardens, and museums before rewarding yourself at The Eight Bells. Our walking map guides you to some of our favourite spots in the town.

Wiveton Wander
The Wiveton Bell, near Blakeney
Autumn is one of the best times to discover this 5-mile route; hedge-lined lanes, flint walls, and Blakeney’s picture-perfect cottages look even more charming under golden light. The route takes you along the Norfolk Coast Path with wide views across Blakeney National Nature Reserve, before circling towards Cley next the Sea.

Nine Stile Stride
The Black Lion, Long Melford
This 2.5-mile countryside loop is a Suffolk gem. Pass Long Melford’s grand Holy Trinity Church, cross over sleepers and stiles, and soak in views of the Stour Valley as the leaves turn golden. Round off your walk with a roast in The Black Lion's dining room and settle by the fire for a pint.

Weybourne Wander
The Maltings, Weybourne
This short stroll from The Maltings is perfect for an autumn day and takes in two of the villages main attractions. Stop at Weybourne Station, a lovingly restored Edwardian stop on the North Norfolk Railway (the Poppy Line). From vintage signals to a replica WWII allotment overlooking the fields, it’s a walk that feels like stepping back in time. A little further on, the Muckleburgh Military Collection, set on a former WWII anti-aircraft training camp, is the UK’s largest privately owned military museum.
